LEARNING CENTER

The Learning Center at Burke Mountain Academy collaborates with faculty, staff, and coaches to support students in meeting their unique learning needs and maximizing their potential in our challenging college preparatory curriculum.

Our Learning Center offers a comprehensive range of services to help students succeed, including language and learning support. If you have any questions about our services or would like to learn more, please don't hesitate to contact Duncan Barnes at dbarnes@burkemtnacademy.org.

LEARNIING SUPPORT
The Learning Center at BMA is designed to help students become active participants in their academic careers. One-on-one time with the Learning Specialist is a resource for students with documented learning differences. Students with documented learning differences will meet with the Learning Specialist, usually four times per week as a part of their course schedule, to discuss diagnoses and strategies that the student can use to be successful in the classroom. The ultimate goal of the Learning Center is to meet students where they are and to help them develop the skills necessary to be independently successful in their future academic endeavors.

BMA may require participation in the Learning Support program if academic and athletic staff believe a student needs additional academic structure and support. If this is required, the price would be prorated based on the time and services used. Parents will be included in these conversations in advance of any decision being made.

Cost: $5,800

ESL PROGRAM
The ESL (English as a Second Language) program at Burke Mountain Academy is a multifaceted, real-time support model. At the beginning of the year, incoming students are assessed to identify linguistic and academic strengths and areas that present growth opportunities. Each student then works with the ESL instructor to develop short and long-term goals for English and academic development throughout their time at BMA.

The frequency of this support is offered on a case-by-case basis, and BMA may require participation in the ESL program for students who are not native English speakers.

Cost: $5,408

THE LEARNING CENTER
At BMA, we encourage students to advocate for themselves and seek out resources to develop further the critical skills that enable success in and beyond the classroom.

Our expert faculty are deeply committed to student development. Every student is welcome to drop by the Learning Center for additional support in any subject or to utilize a quiet workspace.
