OUR MISSION

CHASING GREATNESS

Burke Mountain Academy Exists to Champion Ski Racers Chasing Greatness.

At BMA, we help students maximize their academic and athletic potential in a community based on trust. We embrace an ethos in which hard work is held in the highest esteem, and in which risking failure and learning from success provide exceptional preparation for life beyond Burke

Founded in 1970 with the singular purpose of prioritizing ski racing for its students, BMA has long held that same mission, which continues to this day, more than 55 years later. Burke offers one of the most innovative and successful ski racing programs in the world paired with rigorous academics designed to meet the needs of highly competitive ski racers. Our athletes, known as Burkies, choose to come here to dedicate themselves to being the best they can be in both regards. Here, they balance competitive intensity with a close-knit community; they chase greatness with a commitment to character and values; that's the Burke magic.

OUR HISTORY

GUIDE TO PHILOSOPHY AND COMMUNITY VALUES

At Burke Mountain Academy, we believe becoming a great ski racer begins with becoming a person of character. Our philosophy is rooted in trust, responsibility, hard work, humility, and a shared commitment to continual growth. Through our Honor Code, students are given the freedom to learn, lead, and compete with integrity while supporting one another as members of a close-knit community. We believe leadership is demonstrated through everyday actions, growth is more important than comparison, and achievement carries an even greater responsibility to lead with humility and sportsmanship.

Burke Mountain Academy is not the right fit for everyone. It is a place for student athletes who are motivated to embrace hard work, take responsibility for their own growth, and contribute to something larger than themselves. For those who are committed to pursuing excellence, Burke offers an environment unlike any other. More than 165 Burke alumni have represented their countries on national ski teams or competed at the NCAA level, and 40 have raced in the Winter Olympics, but our greatest measure of success is the character, resilience, and lifelong love of learning our graduates carry with them long after they leave campus.
