French 1 is the first part in a sequence designed to provide students with elementary through intermediate knowledge of spoken and written French.
This course focuses on developing speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills with a parallel study of francophone culture. The curriculum is designed
to prepare students for communication during travel abroad while at the same time providing them with the grammar and vocabulary requisite for further study
at a higher level.

French 4 is the culmination of the sequence and it is designed to provide students with thorough, advanced knowledge of spoken and written French.
This course focuses on developing speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills with a parallel study of francophone culture. The curriculum is
designed to hone students’ previously acquired skills and to integrate that knowledge in how they communicate. This course should fully prepare students
for further study at the college level.
French Cinema: Course Description

French Cinema is a course for advanced French students, which follows the course of film in France from end of the 19th century to the present.
Students will watch various films from the different decades and 'eras', observing historical, artistic and theoretical elements and analyzing the
films themselves with those themes in mind. The students will read various short stories and excerpts from major pieces of literature of historical,
literary and artistic import in order to better understand the milieu in which the films were produced. The course culminates with students making and
analyzing their own films following a particular genre studied.
