Position: Secondary School Science/Math Teacher at Burke Mountain Academy
   Courses: Biology, Chemistry, Physical Science, Integrated Math, Guided Study

General Purpose
The Burke Mountain Academy Math/Science Teacher is a highly qualified teacher responsible for the delivery of classes in science and math. The science/math teacher must plan, organize and implement a curriculum that develops scientific inquiry, problem-solving skills (mathematical and logical thinking), and conceptual understanding (which requires an ability to think in concrete and visual terms).  This includes developing student abilities to conceptualize systems, read diagrams, and integrate frames of reference, creating perspective that builds on prior knowledge. The science/math teacher must also emphasize clear communication and an ability to demand this of their students.  The teacher is responsible for creating a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.

Education and Experience

Bachelors degree from an accredited institution.  Master’s degree preferred.
Previous experience and/or demonstrated ability to work with youth
