| Burke Mountain Academy's academic program is college-preparatory in nature, but our objectives encompass a larger vision and a broader horizon, stretching beyond college and into one's fuller, later life. We strive to instill both the confidence to take intellectual risks and the passion to pursue them. |

The academic component of Burke's educational philosophy seeks to develop a personal commitment to life-long learning. Three fundamental principles define the core of our academic program:
- Stimulating intellectual curiosity
- Developing critical skills
- Building content and conceptual understanding
Our program is based in the liberal arts and is rooted in rigor. We believe that a rigorous program helps to teach the virtue of hard work, which is a central community value of BMA. The liberal arts curriculum that we have constructed is constantly being refined, reflecting our dedication to innovation, as well as our commitment to providing a broad, rich, and challenging course of study.
Our objective in this regard is to empower our students; we want to teach them how to learn. Among the vast array of tools we employ toward these goals are reading, writing, thinking, speaking, and quantitative reasoning. We are flexible in our approach and earnest in our focus on individual progress. Character development and a life-long intellectual curiosity are the distinct, ambitious destinations toward which we navigate; small classes and tutorials are the means by which we steer.
