Winter Term Program

Seventh and eighth graders who join us for the winter term usually withdraw
from their home schools and are taught by the BMA teaching faculty.  Our objective is to facilitate a seamless transition back to each home school for spring.  At the end of winter term, BMA provides a transcript that details semester credits for academic work completed in various subjects.

The winter term academic core curriculum consists of English, Social Studies, Mathematics, Science, and French.  Students take these classes together, in order to target their developmental needs and to ensure quality and efficiency.  The classroom setting provides time for individualized instruction.  Students have time built into their schedules for homework during the day and in the evening hours.  Any additional coursework required from some sending schools, as well as compulsory state testing, should be addressed in the planning stages of the student’s admission to Burke.  Beginning in the 9th grade, students enrolled at BMA must take all coursework within our own curriculum.
